Oliverio Peppers

A family tradition since 1972

Long before Oliverio was a name on a jar, it was a family recipe. What began in a small Clarksburg, West Virginia grocery store grew into a tradition that has been passed from one generation to the next for more than half a century.

It Started With Antoinette

The Oliverio story begins in the 1930s, when Antoinette Oliverio developed her recipe for peppers in Italian sauce in the family grocery store in Clarksburg, West Virginia. It was the kind of food that came from family, tradition and a belief that good ingredients prepared simply could create unforgettable flavor.

That recipe became part of the Oliverio family table. And decades later, it would become the foundation of something much bigger.

One recipe. Generations of tradition.

From Family Recipe to Family Business

In 1972, Antoinette’s son Frank Oliverio began commercially canning the family’s peppers in sauce, officially beginning what would become Oliverio’s Italian Style Peppers.

The early days were truly hands-on. Production grew from the family kitchen and basement, with jars prepared on the stovetop and the family doing what was needed to keep up with demand.

Even the next generation got an early start. While still in high school, Mark Oliverio was selling approximately 125 gallons of peppers a day to local businesses. What began as a beloved family recipe was quickly becoming a West Virginia favorite.

Growing Without Losing What Matters

As more people discovered Oliverio, the operation grew with them. What started small eventually expanded into the Oliverio Pepper Plant in Clarksburg and distribution well beyond West Virginia.

But growth never meant leaving the original recipe behind.

The same peppers. The same sauce. The same family recipe since 1972.

Today, Oliverio continues the tradition across three generations, producing the peppers and sauces that have become pantry staples for families of their own.
